Installation Best Practices: Setting Up Your JRone Turbocharger for Success

A replacement turbocharger is only as good as its installation. Industry data consistently shows that the majority of early turbo failures are caused by fitment issues, not the unit itself. Here is how the professionals do it.
Find the root cause first. A turbo rarely fails on its own. Before fitting the new unit, identify why the old one failed, oil contamination, foreign object damage, or a blocked drain, and fix that cause. Otherwise the replacement will fail the same way.
Prime the oil system. Fill the centre housing with clean engine oil through the feed port and crank the engine with the fuel cut until oil pressure registers. Never let a dry turbo see boost.
Replace the consumables. New oil feed and drain lines (or thoroughly cleaned and inspected), a new oil filter, fresh oil, a new air filter, and all new gaskets. Never use silicone sealant on oil connections, it breaks loose and blocks oil galleries.
Check end float and radial play only against manufacturer specs, torque all fasteners correctly, and let the engine idle for several minutes before the first road test. Your JRone turbo from Turbo Link arrives balanced and ready, give it the installation it deserves and it will deliver for years.
